ABOUT AFF MISSIONS SCIO
AFF Missions SCIO is a prevention-led charity focused on reducing avoidable harm by addressing the conditions and systems that shape wellbeing. Our work is grounded in fairness, dignity, and shared responsibility, with a clear commitment to acting upstream and midstream rather than responding only after harm occurs.
Why We Exist
Across society, people experience stress, exclusion, and harm not because of individual failure, but because of structural pressures, unequal systems, and environments that erode wellbeing over time. When support only arrives at crisis point, harm is already embedded — for individuals, communities, and public services.
AFF Missions SCIO exists to shift this pattern by supporting prevention-led change that reduces harm at source, strengthens system integrity, and promotes fairness in everyday life.
Our Role
We are not a direct service provider or crisis-response organisation. Our role is to design, test, and support prevention-focused approaches that address the root causes of harm and improve how systems function in practice.
We work with communities, organisations, and decision-makers to inform change that is sustainable, ethical, and grounded in evidence.
How We Work
-
Acting upstream and midstream, where prevention has the greatest impact
-
Focusing on systems, environments, and shared responsibility, not individual blame
-
Using evidence-informed frameworks, including public health and equity models
-
Designing initiatives that are non-stigmatising, accessible, and proportionate
Our Values
-
Prevention first — acting before harm escalates
-
Fairness and dignity — in how systems are designed and experienced
-
Integrity and accountability — especially in higher-risk contexts
-
Respect for lived experience — without exploitation or deficit framing
Governance and Accountability
-
AFF Missions SCIO is a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO), governed by a Board of Trustees with responsibility for strategic oversight, compliance, and accountability.
